Phase Composition of Austenitic Stainless Steels in Additive Manufacturing: A Review

نویسندگان

چکیده

Additive manufacturing (AM) is among the novel industrial technologies for fast prototyping of complex parts made from different constructional and functional materials. This review focused on phase composition additively manufactured chromium-nickel austenitic stainless steels. Being produced by conventional methods, they typically have single-phase structure, but steels could vary in AM. Comprehensive analysis recent studies shows that, depending AM technique, chemical composition, process parameters, be characterized both multiphase structures (austenite, ferrite, ?-phase, segregations alloying elements). Presence ferrite other phases strongly influences their properties, particular, increase strength characteristics decrease ductility corrosion resistance Data give a state-of-art mutual connection method, raw material, resultant AM-fabricated Cr-Ni 300-series. The possible directions future investigations are discussed as well.

Mechanical Properties of Austenitic Stainless Steel Made by Additive Manufacturing

Using uniaxial tensile and hardness testing, we evaluated the variability and anisotropy of the mechanical properties of an austenitic stainless steel, UNS S17400, manufactured by an additive process, selective laser melting. Like wrought materials, the mechanical properties depend on the orientation introduced by the processing. The recommended stress-relief heat treatment increases the tensil...

Low-Temperature Carburization of Austenitic Stainless Steels

LOW-TEMPERATURE CARBURIZATION is a gaseous carburization process performed at atmospheric pressure, at temperatures where the kinetics of substitutional diffusion are very slow. Low-temperature carburization hardens the surface of austenitic stainless steels through the diffusion of interstitial carbon, without the formation of carbides. The surface must be activated, by modification and remova...

Development of Alumina-Forming Austenitic Stainless Steels

This paper presents the results of the continued development of creep-resistant, alumina-forming austenitic (AFA) stainless steel alloys, which exhibit a unique combination of excellent oxidation resistance via protective alumina (Al2O3) scale formation and high-temperature creep strength through the formation of stable nano-scale MC carbides and intermetallic precipitates. Efforts in fiscal ye...

Y Studies on Austenitic Stainless Steels

Abstract--In this investigation, the fracture surfaces of SS 304 and SS 316 austenitic steels were analysed using the X-ray fractography technique. In both cases, a decrease in the austenite content was observed at the fracture surface as a result of deformation induced martensite, indicating a linear relation with Km~ within the stable crack growth region. The presence of this martensite was f...

Neural network model of creep strength of austenitic stainless steels

The creep rupture life and rupture strength of austenitic stainless steels have been expressed as functions of chemical composition, test conditions, stabilisation ratio, and solution treatment temperature . The method involved a neural network analysis of a vast and general database assembled from published data. The outputs of the model have been assessed against known metallurgical trends an...
